Pitt Vs. Delaware State: Panthers Will Try To Avoid Looking Ahead To Tennessee Game

Pitt will look to win its tenth straight game to start the season by defeating Delaware State on Wednesday. The Panthers will face a 4-3 Delaware State Hornets team that has no quality wins this season, losing to teams such as Maryland and South Carolina.

Delaware State is guard-heavy and three of its top four scorers are backcourt players. The team is led by a pair of freshman guards, Casey Walker and Desi Washington, who are the team's two leading scorers, averaging more than 28 points per game combined.

It seems like it's been this way all season, but Pitt is facing yet another undersized team. The Hornets have only one player taller than 6-foot-6 who plays more than 20 minutes per game (6-foot-7 Marques Oliver). Because of that, the team ranks near the bottom of the NCAA in rebounding (341st).

The Hornets, for some unknown reason, are playing only ten home games this season compared to 20 on the road. They're in the midst of a brutal stretch on the road - the game against Pitt is the second of ten consecutive away contests, facing some decent D-I programs in Pitt, Clemson, North Carolina State, and Texas Tech.

Even if the Panthers get caught looking ahead to Tennessee and the Big East/SEC Challenge game this weekend, they should still be able to defeat Delaware State. The Hornets simply don't have the size, talent, or depth to give Pitt a real scare.
