The Pirates have claimed pitcher Chris Resop from the Braves. This move costs the Pirates nothing, so there shouldn't be high expectations for it, but Resop had excellent stats for Class AAA Gwinnett this year, and an out clause in his contract in June had other teams salivating. The Braves managed to hold onto him for a while, but they finally had to cut him, and the Pirates pounced. He can start or relieve. He's a hard thrower, which the Pirates probably like.
