Bowling Green Vs. West Virginia Score: Mountaineers Keep It Close

The West Virginia Mountaineers scored a field goal on their first drive after Bowling Green fumbled the opening kickoff return. Bowling Green then jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead, scoring on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schilz after a 77-yard kick return by Jerry Graves. West Virginia proceeded to go three-and-out on their next drive.

Bowling Green this time marched down the football field on a 10-play 52-yard drive to kick a field goal and go up 10-3. West Virginia's offense found a groove on their next possession, however, gaining 56 yards on just three plays, including a 33-yard touchdown from Geno Smith to Ivan McCartney after a 15-yard penalty by Bowling Green. On West Virginia's next drive, the Mountaineers marched down the field in 11 plays for 71 yards and capped it off with an 8-yard rushing score by Shawne Alston to take a 17-10 lead.
