Penguins Vs. Bruins: Pittsburgh Falls, 3-1, To Defending Champion Boston

The PIttsburgh Penguins fell at home to the NHL's hottest team on Monday night, losing 3-1 to the Boston Bruins. The Bruins have now won 14 of their last 15 games. Trailing 1-0 after a Gregory Campbell goal, the Penguins failed to capitalize on a full two minute 5-on-3 power play. Pittsburgh bumbled most of the two minutes and failed to put together a good chance against the Bruins. Benoit Pouliot added the B's second goal right after they killed off the power play, making it 2-0 on a rocket over Marc-Andre Fleury's left shoulder.

In the third period, Boston would add to their lead when Tyler Seguin made it 3-0 just over a minute into the period. On a breakaway chance, Seguin took a beautiful cross ice pass from Patrice Bergeron. Seguin went low for the 3-0 lead, beating Fleury who was sliding over to try and cutoff the breakaway.

Matt Cooke would break the shutout with about nine minutes remaining, beating red hot Tim Thomas for the Pens first and only goal of the evening. Cooke was assisted by Joe Vitale, but it was too little too late as Boston burned the final 9 minutes away to hold on for the 3-1 lead.

Despite the loss, the scariest moment of the game may have come in the third period when center Sidney Crosby collided with Chris Kunitz. Crosby limped off the ice in obvious pain. He returned in the third period, but it was a scary moment in a rough night for the Penguins.
