Duquesne Dukes to Tour Canada in August

The Duquesne Dukes men's team will get some early action this season, as they will be taking a trip to Canada August 11-16.

While the Dukes are north of the border, they will play a pair of Canadian all-star teams two times each that will be made up of Canadian semi-pro players that have either played in the NCAA or professionally in Europe.

This is the second trip to Canada for the Dukes under head coach Ron Everhart, as the team played various Canadian universities during their trip over Labor Day weekend in 2007.

As the NCAA rules state, in addition to being able to travel abroad for practice games once every four years, the team is allowed 10 days of practice prior to departure. This essentially gives the team a little over two weeks of much-needed action before the school year starts, as the Dukes have many question marks going into the 2011-2012 season.
