Penn State Recruiting: Armani Reeves Commits To Nittany Lions

The Penn State coaching staff put the exclamation point on a big week of recruiting Friday morning when West Roxbury, Mass. cornerback Armani Reeves announced his verbal commitment to the Nittany Lions in a news conference.

Reeves, ranked a four-star recruit by Scout and Rivals and a three-star by ESPN, is Penn State's third commitment this week, joining five-star defensive tackle Tommy Schutt and four-star wide receiver Eugene Lewis. According to his Rivals profile, he turned down offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Stanford, Utah, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Lions 247's Sean Fitz talked to Reeves Thursday night, and he had this to say about his decision.

"I've picked Penn State," he told Lions247.com on Thursday evening. "I picked them because academics are important to me and they have my major, exactly what I want to do, so that was a major factor for me. Just the relationship I had with the coaches and how it felt like home. Also, the way they want to use me on offense and defense and special teams, it really excited me and it just feels like home. It was a good time to commit there and I'm happy that I'm going to be there."

With corner D'Anton Lynn scheduled to graduate after the 2011 season, it was important for Penn State to land a well-groomed replacement for him in this class. If Reeves lives up to his recruiting hype, he'll fill that spot nicely.

Here's an excerpt on his game from his ESPN profile.

Reeves is one of the better skill prospects in Massachusetts for 2012 and a productive player in all three phases of the game. He lacks great height and coveted length at the position but is well-built for his size and scrappy.

After the jump, check out some highlights of Penn State's latest recruiting prize.
