The Steelers’ defense, and particularly its secondary, continued to struggle against the Redskins in the second quarter of their first preseason game, but the offense made up for it with a solid drive led by Byron Leftwich, Antonio Brown and Isaac Redman.
Rex Grossman and the Redskins’ offense continued to cruise after a strong first quarter, resulting in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Grossman to Santana Moss to put the Skins ahead 7-0.
But the Steelers’ offense came alive, as Leftwich made a beautiful 30-yard pass to Brown, leading the Steelers into Washington territory. Isaac Redman then ran it in for a score to tie the game 7-7.
The Redskins have still outplayed the Steelers so far, but it’s nice to see the offense come alive, even if many of the starters are gone at this point. Redman, at least, is sure to be an important part of the Steelers offense this year.
