Evgeni Malkin was the only Penguin selected to participate in the NHL All-Star game on Jan. 29 in Ottawa.
Malkin is eighth in the NHL in scoring with 45 points in 35 games. It is the Russian playmaker’s fourth All-Star selection.
No other Penguins were selected, though Sidney Crosby was one of the highest vote-getters in the league. Crosby, who is currently out with concussion-like symptoms, hasn’t played since early December, and has only played eight games this season, recording 12 points in the process.
The host Senators garnered the most selections with five followed by four for the Western Conference leading Vancouver Canucks.
