Capitals Vs. Penguins Score Update: Pittsburgh Takes A 2-0 Lead After First Period

The Pittsburgh Penguins quickly jumped out to a two-goal lead over the Washington Capitals in their Sunday afternoon game at Consol Energy Center. In just his third game back from a concussion injury, Kris Letang buried his fifth goal of the season to put the Pens on the board. With the man advantage on the power play, Letang skated into the middle of the ice with the puck on his stick and rocketed a shot right down the center to beat Michael Neuvirth. Chris Kunitz set up a screen in front and Letang's shot went just over the left shoulder of Neuvirth.

Just one minute later, the Pens would make it 2-0 as the dynamic combination of Evgeni Malkin and James Neal would strike again. Much like their first goal, the play started with a face-off win in the offensive zone. Malkin won the draw and put the puck through his legs right back to Neal who immediately fired a wrister past Neuvirth. It was a beautiful quick strike that found the back of the net less than two seconds after the puck was dropped.
