Super Bowl 2012: Bill O'Brien Focusing On Patriots Over Nittany Lions, For Now

Bill O'Brien was named the next head coach at Penn State, but he is still the current offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. He will perform a careful juggling act this week.

Bill O'Brien must be having a pretty stressful month. Not only is he charged with replacing Joe Paterno at Penn State and dealing with the upcoming National Signing Day and all its importance; but he also has to run a Patriots offense that has a chance at a Super Bowl title this coming Sunday. He has been burning the candle at both ends, quite literally, spending his nights preparing for the Giants and his days running the program at Penn State. According to Ivan Maisel at ESPN, O'Brien left the program last Thursday to focus on the Patriots until after the Super Bowl.

"I owe everything to the New England Patriots to put everything I have into trying to win the Super Bowl," O'Brien said. "You only get so many chances in your life to win a Super Bowl. This is our shot."

O'Brien will return to the Nittany Lions on a full time basis as soon as his commitment to the Patriots and their Super Bowl is over. But for now, his focus is on the Giants pass rush and not Wednesday's National Signing Day.
