The overall TV ratings for the 2012 Super Bowl may not have beaten last year's or halftime-show performer Madonna, but the exciting contest between the New York Giants and New England Patriots did set a new viewership record with 111.3 million average viewers.
Reported earlier Monday, the Super Bowl received a overnight rating of 47.8 rating, which was down a tenth of last year's (47.9).
The Giants ended up beating the Patriots, 21-17, to claim their second Super Bowl title in five seasons and fourth overall. Also for the second time in five years, the Giants beat the Patriots with the other final score being 17-14.

The NFL season officially ended Sunday, as the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots, 21-17, in the 2012 Super Bowl, and that means one thing come Monday. The '12-13 season starts! And according to Las Vegas oddmakers at the MGM Grand, the Pittsburgh Steelers will enter the season with pretty good odds (6-1) to win the 2013 Super Bowl.
The Steelers, who finished the regular season 12-4 but lost to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild-Card Round of the playoffs, have the same odds as the Philadelphia Eagles, who trail just the Patriots (5-1) and Green Bay Packers (11-2), respectively.
The current defending champions, the Giants, are getting no love from Vegas who gave them 8-1 odds.
Meanwhile, the Steelers AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens (20-1), Cincinnati Bengals (30-1) and Cleveland Browns (75-1), have worse odds.
Here's the compete list:
New England Patriots 5-1 Green Bay Packers 11-2 Pittsburgh Steelers 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles 6-1 New York Giants 8-1 New Orleans Saints 10-1 San Francisco 49ers 10-1 San Diego Chargers 12-1 Houston Texans 12-1 Chicago Bears 17-1 Detroit Lions 18-1 Atlanta Falcons 18-1 Dallas Cowboys 20-1 Baltimore Ravens 20-1 New York Jets 20-1 Indianapolis Colts 25-1 Tennessee Titans 30-1 Cincinnati Bengals 30-1 Buffalo Bills 50-1 Kansas City Chiefs 50-1 Seattle Seahawks 50-1 Denver Broncos 50-1 Carolina Panthers 50-1 Miami Dolphins 50-1 St. Louis Rams 50-1 Oakland Raiders 60-1 Minnesota Vikings 60-1 Arizona Cardinals 60-1 Cleveland Browns 75-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 100-1 Washington Redskins 125-1 Jacksonville Jaguars 150-1

The New York Giants' 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots Sunday in Super Bowl 2012 helped their franchise earn their fourth Super Bowl title and move them into some elite company on the all-time NFL list.
The Giants moved into a fourth-place tie with the Green Bay Packers, who're just ahead of the Patriots, Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders who each have three Super Bowl titles.
However, the Giants still have a lot of work to do if they'd like to catch the all-time leader, the hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, who have an NFL-best six Super Bowl crowns and lead the Dallas Cowboys and San Fransisco 49ers, who each have five championships.

Many prognosticators speculated that the Super Bowl this year could break the ratings from last year's game and in turn become the most watch television program in History. In the early returns, it looks like that may not have happened. But they did come close.
Small correx on the overnights. I'm now being told that it's a 47.8 (not 47.9), which is down a tenth of a ratings point from last year.
— John Ourand (@Ourand_SBJ) February 6, 2012
The same people are going to be watching the Super Bowl every year, so those ratings aren't going to change a tremendous amount, but there is one event every year that even non-football fans tune into, and it turns out the halftime show may have gotten bigger rankings than the game itself.
Madonna is more popular than the NFL. Source says the halftime show drew a 48.3 overnight, which is higher than the game's 47.8.
— John Ourand (@Ourand_SBJ) February 6, 2012
That makes sense, because the halftime show gets everyone who tuned in for the game plus the aging spinsters who tune in just for Madonna. But I still don't have to like it.

Budweiser typically has some pretty good Super Bowl ads from year to year, but I think they might have gone over the line with their latest commercial, which involves the exploitation of a poor little puppy named We Go.
In the commercial, the supposed owner of We Go claims that he's a rescue dog. Really though as you watch, you find out We Go isn't a rescue dog at all but simply a victim of cruel training. What seems like a nifty trick at first, when We Go is called with the command "Here We Go," the puppy will fetch this bro a cold Bud Lite from the fridge. Ignoring the obvious fact that We Go is neither tall enough nor strong enough to actually open a refrigerator, the poor canine is tasked with fetching everyone at this party cold Bud Lite and at one point is even tasked with bringing a keg to the party.
While the ad's tagline is "The sure sign of a good time," it's obvious that We Go was not having a good time by his whimper towards the end, clearly exhausted from fetching his unrelenting masters Bud Lite.

We've all seen the Chrysler commercials during the year featuring songs by Detroit legend Eminem and featuring Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. The commercials have hit home about how Detroit's struggles and rebounding have been the staple of the commercial. Knowing that, you had to figure that the Chrysler Super Bowl commercial would be along the same lines of the other somber and serious ads of their past.
Chrysler pulled out all the stops for this one, however. They went out and got Josey Wales. Blondie. Dirty Harry. Monco. Philo Beddoe.
While Clint Eastwood doesn't really have any ties to Detroit like the previous stars in the ads, his voice just seems to fit perfectly. I'm a little disappointed he didn't throw in a "Right turn, Clyde" though.

Alternative band OK Go has found themselves a niche in making very creative music videos, ranging from ultra low-budget to running on treadmills to using trained dogs. They've once again set a new standard for what you can accomplish in a music video while working in conjunction with Chevrolet. OK Go's newest music video for their song "Needing/Getting" was creating using Chevy's new Sonic and parts of the video were used in the commercial for the new car, which the band used to make music by doing various things such as continuously slamming the door, banging the roof, and even speeding past pianos and bells in conjunction with the song.
Here's the video, which was in part used during the Super Bowl in the Chevy Sonic ad.

The New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI, in large part thanks to the play of quarterback Eli Manning. It was a hard fought and close game, once again coming down to the wire just like the previous match up between the two teams a few years ago. Oddly enough, the game ended in nearly the same fashion with the Giants driving down the football field near the end of the game for the game winning score and the feet of Ahamad Bradshaw. The game winning drive however was orchestrated by some great passes by Manning, including a 38-yard completion down the sideline to start the final drive.

Manning ended the day completing 30 of his 40 pass attempts for 296 yards and one touchdown. All evening, Manning completed passes on third down to keep drives alive and didn't really make very many mistakes or put his team in poor positions. Manning wins his second Super Bowl MVP award, his first also coming against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII

The New England Patriots started with the football in the fourth quarter as they were in the middle of a drive from the third quarter. Two plays in, however, New England turned the football over as Tom Brady attempted to hit Rob Gronkowski deep down the field and it was picked off by New York Giants linebacker Chase Blackburn at the eight yard line.

After the interception the Giants began moving down the football field by picking up little chunks of yardage and converting on third downs. The Giants got just past midfield but then began to have a few mental lapses. The Giants were forced to burn two timeouts on the drive to avoid delay of game penalties, leaving themselves with just one timeout to go with just under ten minutes left in the game. The Giants wound up punting on the drive, leaving head coach Tom Coughlin clearly upset with the ending sequence.
After the punt the Patriots looked like they were going to work themselves down the field again, but on second down Tom Brady led Wes Welker just a little too much as Welker couldn't haul in the leaping twisting catch. Brady missed on the very next pass forcing the Patriots to punt the ball back to the Giants. Eli Manning wasted no time on getting the Giants down the field as he hit Mario Manningham on a deep pass down the sideline.
The Giants continued their drive down the field and got into the redzone with just over a minute left in the game. A few plays later running back Ahmad Bradshaw pounded the football into the endzone as the Giants took a 21-17 lead with just under minute left in the game. The Giants attempt a two-point conversion, but it failed.
The Patriots got the football back with under a minute left and were able to convert a 4th-and-16 for the first down and got down near midfield before spiking the football. The Patriots had a few more shots, but they just couldn't get enough yardage to get in range for anything but hail marys as the game clock expired.

The New England Patriots opened the third quarter with the football, after deferring at the start of the game when they won the coin toss. Tom Brady began the drive on the 21-yard line and marched the Patriots right down the football field. The drive was sparked by a 21-yard reception by Chad Ochocinco. Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis also picked up 17 yards on a run to the outside to get the Patriots across midfield. Just a few plays later, the Patriots found themselves in the redzone. Tom Brady completed his twentieth pass of the game to tight end Aaron Hernandez for a 12-yard touchdown pass to put the Patriots up 17-9 over the New York Giants.

The Giants got the football back after the touchdown and began marching down the football field. Eli Manning was able to hit on a couple of passes and pick up some first downs, but the offense bogged down as the team got closer to the end zone and the Patriots defense didn't have to worry about getting beat deep. The Patriots were able to hold the Giants to a field goal as New York cut into the lead 17-12.
After the Giants field goal, their defense decided to turn up the heat on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. On third down, Brady was sacked by defensive end Justin Tuck to end on a three-and-out. New England had a quick scare however after the sack as Tom Brady appeared to be injury. Back up quarterback Brian Hoyer began warming up, but quickly put his baseball cap back on and went back to the bench as Brady finished getting checked out by the doctors.
The Giants got the football back after forcing the three-and-out and began working their way down the football field. The Giants avoided disaster when wide receiver Hakeem Nicks fumbled the football after a 17-yard gain, but fullback Henry Hynoski recovered the football. Manning was sacked on third and long however by linebacker Rob Ninkovich to force the Giants to once again settle for the field goal and cut the lead to 17-15. The half ended as the Patriots got the football back and they will begin the fourth quarter with the football.

The New England Patriots lead the New York Giants 10-9 after one half of Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. A big first quarter spotted the Giants a 9-0 lead, with the first score of the game coming on a safety. The Patriots ended the first driving deep into New York territory. They started the second quarter in the red zone, but their drive would stall there as the Giants forced a 29-yard Stephen Gostkowski field goal as the Patriots cut the lead to six points.
Tom Brady lead a drove nearly the length of the field to score the go-ahead touchdown with only eight seconds remaining in the half. After getting it to the New York three yard line, Brady hit Danny Woodhead cutting across the middle of the endzone to give New England a 10-9 lead. The drive took 14 plays and four minutes and tied for the longest march in Super Bowl history. Brady is now 15-of-18 for 147 yards.

While the Giants had a relatively quiet second quarter, Eli Manning did set a Super Bowl record by completing his first nine passes, as the Giants moved the ball throughout the first. Punter Sean Weatherford has been a difference-maker so far for New York, pinning the Pats inside the ten yard line on two occasions.
As for injuries, the Giants have lost tight end Travis Beckum, who tore an ACL as he tried to plant on the turf while running an out patter. He is out for the game, and Jake Ballard, who's dealing with his own injury issues, will have to pick up the slack with Bear Pascoe. New England tight end Rob Gronkowski has been significantly limited by his high-ankle sprain thus far.

After one quarter in Indianapolis, the New York Giants lead the New England Patriots 9-0. Remarkably, the first score of the game was a New York safety, after Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady heaved it down the middle of the field and was called for intentional grounding while in the end zone.
Video of the safety below:

Leading 2-0, the Giants then marched down the field on their subsequent possession for the 9-0 lead. It was a nine play, 78 yard drive that took less than six minutes as the Giants have dominated every facet of the game so far. The big play of the drive was a 24-yard scamper down the left sideline by Ahmad Bradshaw. Inside the ten yard line, Eli Manning then hit Victor Cruz on the inside for the touchdown. Manning is a perfect nine for nine so far.
At the end of the first quarter, the Patriots are driving in New York territory looking to cut into the nine-point lead.

Kelly Clarkson sang one of the better national anthems we've seen at a Super Bowl, belting out the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium. The over/under line set for the total time of the anthem was a minute and 34 seconds, according to Bovada.
Follow @sbnation on Twitter | Like SB Nation on Facebook | Sign up for our Newsletter
Unofficially, Clarkson hit that time right on the nose for an incredible push for that prop bet. The time still has to be officially confirmed, but after Christina Aguilera fumbled the words last year in Dallas, there should be less controversy this year.

While Madonna may be the headliner at the halftime intermission, a younger pop star will take the mic for the Star Spangled Banner before the game. Kelly Clarkson - American Idol winner, Chris Berman carpool companion - is scheduled to sing the National Anthem at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Here's hoping that Clarkson will actually get all the words right, coming on the heels of Christina Aguillera's fumbling of the lyrics last year in Dallas. Bovada currently has the over/under for the Anthem set at a minute and 34 seconds.

With just a couple hours remaining before kick off in Super Bowl XLVI, the Patriots and Giants released their official injury reports for the big game. There were no last minute question marks and thus, there were no real surprises on the inactives list. Most importantly, Rob Gronkowski is active and Bill Belichick has said the Woodland Hills grad will play. The amount of time he sees is still to be determined based on how his ankle responds, according to the Patriots' head coach.
For the Giants, former Penn State defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy is inactive.
The full list of inactives for both teams:
Patriots Inactives:
QB Ryan Mallett, RB Kevin Faulk, RB Shane Vereen, OLB/MLB Gary Guyton, G Donald Thomas, C/G Nick McDonald and DT Ron Brace.
Giants Inactives:
WR Ramses Barden, RB Da'Rel Scott, LB Mark Herzlich, C Jim Cordle, DT Jimmy Kennedy, T James Brewer and DE Justin Trattou.

During Sunday's Super Bowl pregame show, NBC aired an interview Bob Costas conducted with halftime entertainer Madonna. The number one issue seems to be whether or not the historically racy performer might have the game's second wardrobe malfunction. Madonna, as she did on Tuesday during media day, insisted that there will be no such repeat of the controversy Janet Jackson sparked during XXXVIII.
Apparently, the material girl has never seen video of Jackson's performance from eight years ago. It will interesting to see what the 53-year-old has in store for this year's halftime show.
Video of Costas' interview below:

It happens way too often - an advertisement for "championship gear" hits the airwaves, internet, or print before a title game has been played. For Super Bowl XVLI, both New York and Boston are guilty of running premature ads.
On Saturday, a splash page for Giants.com promoted New York as Super Bowl Bowl champions, and provided a link to immediately shop for championship gear.
The Boston market matched the New York screw-up on Sunday morning, however, with Dick's Sporting Goods running ads for local New Englanders to stop in and shop for their Super Bowl gear.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' "Mean" Joe Greene played the integral part in perhaps the most iconic and well-known ads of all time. The ad of Greene in the tunnel has been spoofed and re-made several times, and another version was made by Downy for Super Bowl XLVI.
This ad features Amy Sedaris trying to hand off her Downy product to Greene in the tunnel. After she repeatedly insists, he finally relents and takes the Downy. Greene takes a whiff and then, as Sedaris dejectedly walks away, he turns and tosses her his jersey, mimicking the iconic Coke commercial.

The Post-Gazette notes that for the New England Patriots, the spectre of Spygate still lingers, and the 2012 Super Bowl provides the Pats with a chance to show that while their previous Super Bowl victories might have been tainted, they can still win the Super Bowl, even with a team that isn't as good as the teams that won while spying.
The Steelers lost to the Patriots in the 2001 and 2004 AFC Championship games, so they're still fired up.
"They definitely cheated," said Hines Ward, who will be part of NBC's five-hour pregame show today.
The Patriots were caught using video to steal hand signals from their opponents' coaches, and they were forced to pay $250,000 and forfeit their 2008 first-round draft choice.
That was a while ago, but some players will be looking to Sunday's Super Bowl to see if the Patriots can win without spying.
Ward also believes that a New England victory somehow will polish those three previous Lombardis in the Patriots trophy case.
"Yeah," he said after laughing at the question, "they would."
It's no laughing matter to [Amani] Toomer, even though Spygate had no direct affect on him.
"Tom Brady hasn't won a Super Bowl since Spygate," Toomer told [Jim] Rome.

There has been very little movement in the odds line for the Super Bowl XLVI matchup of the New England Patriots (15-3) and New York Giants (12-7), as New England remains slight favorites entering Sunday's game.
The Patriots opened as 3.5-point favorites, but the lines have settled between 2.5 and three points and remained there for days, according to our friends at OddsShark. The over/under for the game has hovered between 54 and 55 points depending on the odds maker.

Super Bowl Sunday is upon us, and that means two things: football...and food. Lots and lots of food. Right, and the football. Chips and dips are a favorite, but how about something with a little more pizazz. I recommend the buffalo chicken bites below. Not only are they delicious, but they are oven-baked rather than fried, making it slightly healthier when you eat 12 of them in one sitting.
Buffalo Chicken Bites (via Sweet Pea's Kitchen)
What you will need (to make 48 uber delicious bites):
Cooking directions (from the expert, Sweet Pea):
- Preheat oven to 350˚F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine chicken, cream cheese and hot sauce, cheddar cheese and green onions.
- Roll a heaping tablespoon of mixture into a 1½-inch ball and place onto a plate or separate baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Place flour in a shallow dish.
- In a second shallow dish, place eggs.
- In a third shallow dish, place corn flakes.
- Dip each chicken ball first into the flour, then the egg and ending with the Corn Flakes. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm with ranch or blue cheese dressing.

Super Bowl Sunday is not just about the game. Sure, fans want to see the Super Bowl XLVI matchup of the New England Patriots (15-3) versus the New York Giants (12-7), but with Super Bowl Sunday also comes the wonderful opportunity to place prop bets on the game. These are bets that have virtually nothing to do with the actual play on the field. In visiting with our friends at OddsShark, it appears television camera time is a hot betting option this year, so why not look at three such choices:
How many times will Peyton Manning be shown on TV during the game? [Over 3.5]
Over (-135)
Under (-105)
How many times will Giselle Bundchen be shown on TV during the game? [Over 0.5]
Over (-300)
Under (+200)
How many times will Robert Kraft be shown on TV during the game? [Over 3.5]
Over (-140)
Under (EVEN)
If you had to choose just one, I'd bet on the Patriots crusty old owner Robert Kraft getting the least facetime. We certainly know NBC won't pass up the opportunity to show Tom Brady's extremely attractive lady friend as many times as they can.

With many of the key players and coaches back again this year, the potential for another great game is there. Remember the Mean Joe Greene Coke Commercial from 1980? How could you not? It's one of the most iconic commercials ever made.
This year, Downy brings in Amy Sedaris of all people to play the role of the boy who offers Mean Joe Greene some Downy Unstoppables. It's basically the same ad, except for a slightly different ending ... and a whole lot more funky Amy Sedaris faces.
The ad is a winner because it covers every base. It's got the nostalgia factor, reenacting one of the most famous football commercials of all time. Sedaris pulls in "the kids" or whatever demographic is supposed to be fans of Sedaris. It obviously wins over the Steelers fans. And there's a body function joke, the core of any good Super Bowl commercial. If they could have somehow worked in a fart or a guy getting kicked in the groin, it might have been an all-time great.

WARNING: If you want to be surprised by the commercials during the Super Bowl, don't read any further. We're going to show you a commercial that will officially debut during the big game on Sunday, but are already available online. The we'll provide a little review.
Here is a commercial buy Audi, and while it arrives at the point in a round about way, is about how bright their new headlights are.
Audi 2012 Game Day Commercial - Vampire Party (via AudiofAmerica)
Well, I think it's probably good for Audi to incorporate the whole Vampires thing -- I guess that's still in right now. But they also take a little shot at them with this commercial, so they can still seem above the whole thing. They use them ironically, the best way to benefit from a trend without seeming conformist.
As for the subject matter of the commercial, I think they tackled a pretty touchy subject with a lot of respect; the biggest murder-suicide in the history of vampires. But if what I've heard happens in True Blood is true for vampires, these vampires probably deserved it. And you have to make sure you hit the demographic that buys cars based on the brightness of their headlights. Good effort, overall.

Every Super Bowl Party has chips and dip, and this year you don't have to show up with store-bought salsa. Here is a recipe for Spinach and Artichoke Dip that should make you a very popular person on Sunday.

1. Melt Butter in medium sized saucepan.
2. Sautee Onions until soft, but do not brown.

Super Bowl XLVI is just a few days away and already advertisers have begun releasing their new Super Bowl commercials online. Putting aside how strange it is for companies to "pre-release" commercials, or release "teasers" for the commercials, or even that there are "event" commercials in the first place, let's take a look at one of the new ads that will "officially premiere" during the game on Sunday.
Volkswagen tickled many a viewer's fancy during last year's Super Bowl when they debuted a Passat commercial featuring the "Star Wars Kid," who tries to use his or her Force powers...with adorable results. Recently, VW put out a commercial to "tease" their Super Bowl commercial, which features a chorus of dogs barking the Imperial March, and a whippet dressed as an AT-AT Walker. As cute/awesome as that is, it doesn't really seem to have anything to do with their product, which is, you know, typically the point of advertising.
But here's what it led up to: their 2012 Super Bowl commercial for the Volkswagen Beetle, entitled "The Dog Strikes Back."
I have ... problems with this commercial. First off, there's the super-depressing aspect of having a morbidly obese dog, which would indicate terrible owners or borderline animal abuse more than anything else. Instead, you have a dog being concerned about its self-image, which is pretty wrong on a lot of levels. Is it not enough that companies never stop the fat-shaming of human beings? Must they move on to making the animals feel bad now?
But let's not even worry about that part. The end of the commercial moves on to the Mos Eisley cantina and a wretched hive of villainy discussing the dog commercial. Then Darth Vader shows up. No one is quite sure why this is happening. The dog thing and the Star Wars thing are in no way related. Could they really not think of another way to work Darth Vader into a new commercial? He's Darth Vader.
Also, is Volkswagen and Star Wars a new thing now? Are they going to be joined at the hip in Super Bowl commercials for the next decade? Are VW dealership lobbies going to features guys in Chewbacca suits? ... Okay, that last thing would be awesome. If that's where we're headed, carry on, Volkswagen.

As the Super Bowl approaches, Bill O'Brien finds himself in a tough position. We've detailed his juggling act, trying to recruit and work as the Penn State head coach and the offensive coordinator for the Patriots before, but Wednesday had to be a particularly tough case. National Signing Day is one of the biggest days of the year for Nittany Lion football, but O'Brien was in Indianapolis with the Patriots. And according to Tom Fornelli of CBS, his complete focus was with the Patriots.
"I'll get a fax of our signees. I already have a pretty good idea of who they are going to be," said O'Brien. "It's really about the Patriots and making sure we're ready for today's practice, tomorrow's meeting and Sunday's game."
As Fornelli points out, Penn State knew that this is the situation they would enter into hiring O'Brien while the Patriots were still alive in the Playoffs, but it is still not ideal. Having said that if O'Brien organizes a good game plan and the Patriots win the Super Bowl, the hiring of O'Brien will look a lot better. And then he can focus full time on Penn State starting Monday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won't be a part of media day this year for the 2012 Super Bowl between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. However, having been to seven Super Bowls, they've gotten their fair share of strange questions on the strangest media day of the year.
Sportsnet compiled some the strangest ever, and the Steelers show up a few times:
At Super Bowl XLIII, an Access Hollywood reporter asked Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, "Who has the better hair, you or Steelers safety Tony (sic) Polamalu?"
To long-haired Steelers LB Kevin Greene: "How long does it take you to wash your hair?"
The post also includes a photo of a reporter in a superhero costume interviewing Pittsburgh Steelers' Casey Hampton at last year's Super Bowl media day. Why? Because it's Super Bowl Media Day, that's why.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel joined ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” on Monday.
Keisel talked about a range of topics — first and foremost his beard, and the logistical challenges it poses to wearing a helmet. (He insists he has different helmets depending on the length of the beard.) There is also some shameless plugging for Head and Shoulders, for which Keisel is a spokesman.
He also touches on some more serious topics, like Pittsburgh’s season-ending loss to the Broncos, as well as what it feels like to lose a Super Bowl. Keisel also talks about former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians’ reported move to Indianapolis, which has also reportedly plucked away Pittsburgh’s linebacker coach Keith Butler.
Keisel, who has been with the Steelers since 2002, had 48 tackles in 14 games in 2011.

Anyone can put a bag of chips and some re-heated queso out for a Super Bowl party, but if you want to bring it to the next level, you need to make something original and homemade. Here is a recipe for homemade sweet potato fries that are sweet but with just a little kick.
1 large sweet potato for every three people being served
A medium sized bottle of canola or vegetable oil
A big pot
Brown Sugar
Cayenne Pepper
Salt
1. Put all the oil in the pot and put over medium heat. The oil is going to take a very long time to heat up so be patient.
2. Cut the Sweet potatoes into fry sized pieces. Whatever size or shape you choose, try to make sure that all the pieces have a pretty uniformed thickness so that they all cook at roughly the same pace.
3. When you think the oil is at the right temperature, put one fry in to test. If it is hot enough the oil will start bubbling around the fry. Not violently yet, just enough to show that it is cooking. If the oil is hot enough, put in a handful of the fries to cook. You don't want to overfill the pot, so break up the amount of fries you cook at any given time.
4. The first round of cooking is just to make the potatoes soft, so cook until you can easily cut through a sample potato with your utensil, then take out of the oil and place in a large bowl lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil. Repeat with the remaining uncooked sweet potatoes.
5. This is the key to making the potatoes crispy. Turn the burner up as high as it will possibly go and allow the oil to heat up even more. Cooking the fries a second time on a much higher temperature is what makes the fries crispy and not just soggy.
6. When the oil is hot enough, and I mean really hot, put a small handful of the fries back in the oil. It should bubble pretty violently when the fries are first introduced. Cook for a few minutes until the fries are starting to brown. You want them to brown a little bit before you take them out. Take the fries out of the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels and pat down the top with more paper towels to remove excess oil. That's the healthy part, sort of. Repeat with the rest of the fries that have been cooked once until all fries have been cooked twice and are now crispy and delicious.
7. Put the fries in a large serving bowl and add brown sugar, a pinch of cayenne pepper and salt to taste. Then toss the fries to mix. It is easier if you do this step after each set of fries comes right out of the oil instead of just doing all the fries at the same time. It helps the spices get on all the fries.
8. Serve and await flood of compliments from hungry guests.
Bill O'Brien was named the next head coach at Penn State, but he is still the current offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. He will perform a careful juggling act this week.
