Jerry Sandusky's pension could be in jeopardy

Jerry Sandusky will spend the rest of his life in prison and now he could lose his pension as well. The Pennsylvania State Employee's Retirement System (SERS) informed Sandusky on Wednesday that his crimes triggered a forfeiture of his pension.

Sandusky's pension is $59k per year in addition to a lump sum of $148k from when he retired from Penn State in 1999. Sandusky will fight to keep his pension and his lawyer Karl Rominger says SERS has no legal ground to revoke it.

Pennsylvania's pension forfeiture law applies to any public school employee convicted of any sex crime against a student. Rominger argues that since Sandusky wasn't convicted of molesting a Penn State student, the law should not apply to him.

Sandusky was sentenced on Tuesday to between 30 and 60 years in prison for sexually molesting ten boys through his charity for troubled youth, The Second Mile.
