Redskins vs. Steelers 2012: Big game all-around for Steelers offense

The Pittsburgh Steelers got a very important 27-12 victory over the Washington Redskins at Heinz Field on Sunday afternoon, running their record to 4-3.

While it wasn't always pretty for the black and gold (mostly because of those uniforms), Pittsburgh was able to secure the victory with a nice balanced attack on offense.

Jonathan Dwyer led the team with a stellar performance, picking up 107 rushing yards on only 17 carries. Ben Roethlisberger also played well, throwing for a trio of touchdowns and 222 yards.

As Ivan Cole points out at Behind The Steel Curtain, perhaps it was the much maligned offensive line that was the most impressive on this day for Dan Rooney's club:

Offensive line. Please let me know if you saw any deficiencies here because I didn't. I think Mike Adams has quietly arrived. Colon gave us a replay of his tendency to use the ground to tenderize defensive players. Pouncey is back. And you didn't notice Foster and Starks, which is a good thing. There was room for the running game and time for Ben. What more do you want? Oh, yeah and DeCastro may be back soon.

Conversely, the defense was able to contain Robert Griffin III, something that has proven to be a bit of a task in recent weeks.

All in all, the Steelers showed the rest of the NFL why they're certainly far from done in the wide-open AFC.
