Chiefs vs. Steelers 2012 score update: Pittsburgh and Kansas City tied after 3 quarters, 10-10

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their starting quarterback and the Kansas City Chiefs had two touchdowns taken off the board, as both teams went scoreless in the third quarter.

First, Matt Cassel connected with Dwayne Bowe on a short route on the left side of the field. Bowe caught the ball, got a few blocks and scampered into the end zone for the Chiefs' second touchdown of the night, but the score was called back on an offensive holding penalty. The drive then stalled, and Ryan Succop missed a chip-shot, 33-yard field goal to the right. What looked like a promising red-zone trip ended with no points.

On the following drive, Byron Leftwich took over for Ben Roethlisberger, who was forced to leave the game with a right shoulder injury. On his third play from scrimmage, Leftwich fumbled, the Chiefs recovered and ran for a touchdown. However, the play was reviewed and overturned after it was shown to be an incomplete pass.

Leftwich and the Steelers then continued their drive, eventually moving the ball to midfield, where they were faced with a fourth-and-one. Head coach Mike Tomlin elected to go for it. but Isaac Redman was stopped for a loss and the Steelers turned the ball over on downs.

Byron Leftwich is 1-of-3 for 31 yards filling in for Roethlisberger.
