Ben Roethlisberger's baby born Wednesday night

It will be an unusual Thanksgiving in the Roethlisberger household. Ben Roethlisberger's wife Ashley gave birth to the couple's first child, Benjamin Roethlisberger Jr., late Wednesday night. Ben Roethlisberger says that his son weighed seven pounds, one ounce, and was 19.5 inches long. Roethlisberger also said that both the boy and is mother were healthy.

The Steelers quarterback married his wife in 2011. There was every indication that the baby would be born in late November. Earlier in the season, there had been some hand-wringing among Steelers fans about the timing of the baby's birth, since Roethlisberger said he would not miss it to play in a game. But that anxiety became irrelevant when Roethlisberger got injured anyway -- he'll be out for awhile longer with shoulder and rib problems.

Roethlisberger says he will post pictures this weekend on his official site.

The Steelers play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. With Roethlisberger's injury, Charlie Batch is expected to start at quarterback.
