After faking an injury during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers have both been fined by the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders have been fined $50,000 between the two after the NFL league office deemed Sanders' antics against the Bengals on Oct. 21 to be 'faking' an injury, via Neal Coolong of Behind the Steel Curtain.
Sanders, who committed the action, will be fined $15,000 while the Steelers will be asked to pay $35,000 to the league office. The NFL believes Sanders faked an injury during the aforementioned game in Week 7, which was the Sunday primetime game on NBC.
Sanders was seen on television engaged in the huddle, before the wide out suddenly hit the ground with what appeared to be leg cramps as the play clock expired, saving the Steelers a timeout. Per NFL rules, Sanders went to the bench to drink liquids and receive treatment from trainers before returning soon after.
The play happened with the Steelers up just 24-17, and Pittsburgh went on to win by the same score.
