Pitt vs. Duquesne: Panthers rout Dukes, 66-45

The Panthers continued their dominance over Duquesne, winning their 12th consecutive City Game on Wednesday, 66-45.

The game was never all that close as Pitt didn't get much of a test from their city rival. With the score tied 12 minutes into the game, Pitt went on a 9-0 run and never looked back. That was the key stretch in the game as Duquesne was held scoreless for just over six minutes. The Panthers opened up a 12-point lead and ended up winning by 21.

Tray Woodall was the star of the game. He led all scorers with 24 points on 7-14 shooting and hit a variety of key buckets all night. He also added five rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. Freshman Steven Adams had a big game as well, breaking out of a mini slump. The center had eight points and 14 rebounds and was the most active that he's been perhaps all season.

A downside, if there was one, was that the team didn't shoot all that well. But the 38% shooting percentage was a bit of an aberration as the starters shot nearly 50%. That figure was brought down by the awful performance of Pitt's bench, which went a combined 3-19. The reserves, though, have played well most of the season and with J.J. Moore, Trey Zeigler, and Dante Taylor, have too much talent to make this performance a concern.

The Panthers get a few days off before facing North Florida on Saturday at the Pete.
