Pittsburgh football officially signed 16 commitments on National Signing Day. The big prize for Pitt on signing day was five-star running back Rushel Shell from Aliquippa, PA out of Hopewell. Shell is the No. 4 ranked running back in the country and Pitt was able to keep him in state. Pitt was also able to land four-star tight end J.P. Holtz from Pittsburgh, PA out of Shaler Area High School.
Pitt was also able to bring in four-star quarterback Chad Voytik from Cleveland, TN the No. 12 ranked quarterback in the country. Staying in state again, the Panthers brought in four-star linebacker Deaysean Rippy from McKees Rock, PA out of Sto-Rox High School. Pitt was able to bring in six commitments from Pennsylvania.
The Pitt class is ranked No. 4 in the Big East and No. 38 overall as of now, according to Scout.com.

Shell is one of the best players in the 2012 class for the Panthers, ranked by Rivals as a four-star prospect and the sixth-best running back in the Nation. He is from Aliquippa, PA, so his recruitment is important from a local angle as well.
Daysean Rippy was undecided until last night, when he chose Pitt over West Virginia. Rippy is also a four-star prospect on Rivals, and is rated as the No. 21 outside linebacker in the Nation.
