Penn State Vs. Michigan State: Nittany Lions Trail At Half After Slow Start

Penn State got off to another slow start offensively on Wednesday night at Michigan State, failing to score until 7:38 into the game against the Spartans at the Jack Breslin Center in East Lansing, which caused Nittany Lions to take a 33-19 deficit into the halftime break.

Nick Colella, a former walk-on who got his first career start in the game, scored Penn State's first points at the 12:22 mark on a 3-point jumper from the near corner. His score got the offense going a little bit for the Lions, but as a team, they still shot just 20.8 percent from the field, including from 2-12 3-point territory. Take away Colella's makes and Penn State shot 0-10 from the perimeter.

Michigan State outrebounded Penn State 27-13 in the half, a stunning margin for just 20 minutes of play. That's thanks, in large part, to Penn State's 19 misses from the field in the first period.

Tim Frazier led the Lions with 10 points on 3-9 shooting. He also has a game-high four turnovers. Colella chipped in six points for Penn State.

Draymond Green leads the Spartans with nine points on 2-9 shooting. Adreian Payne and Keith Appling added six points each. Though Penn State had an awful shooting half, Sparty wasn't much better, hitting at 26.7 percent from the field in the half.
