2012 CBI Tournament Will Not Feature Duquesne Dukes

Duquesne has decided it will not be part of the CBI.

Selection Sunday is here, but it looks like he Duquesne Dukes won't be a part of it. The Dukes have decided they will not participate in the College Basketball Invitational. Duquesne athletic director Greg Amodio:

"After we talked a little bit I decided before there was even a formal offer made that we really need to focus on moving forward," said Amodio. "I believe it is in our best interest to focus our time and attention on recruiting, planning and moving forward for next season."

Duquesne has a 16-15 record and finished ninth in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Dukes lost five of their last six games, including a loss to UMass in the first round of the A-10 Tournament. As of Saturday, the Post-Gazette notes that the Dukes ranked No. 106 in the RPI.

Coach Ron Everhart had expressed interest in the Dukes continuing their season, as you'd expect, but it appears Amodio has decided the Dukes are done. Duquesne is also unlikely to make the NIT and certainly will not make the NCAA Tournament.
