Penguins Vs. Devils: Pittsburgh Dominant Again In 5-2 Victory

The Penguins' 11th-straight victory, a 5-2 triumph against the Devils on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., just might have been the most dominant of the streak yet.

Pittsburgh (44-21-5) outshot New Jersey (41-26-5) 43-14, putting the pressure on Devils goalie Martin Brodeur all afternoon while running a tight ship in the defensive end as well.

James Neal got the Penguins on the board early with his 32nd goal of the season just 1:59 into the game. Andy Green tied the score with a goal late in the first period, but Pascal Dupuis, Matt Cooke and Evgeni Malkin ripped off three-straight goals in the middle of the second period to give the Pens firm control of the contest.

Cooke added another goal in the third period after a Petr Sykora talley colose the margin to 4-2 to put New Jersey away.

After the game, the winger, now with a career-high 16 goals on the season, reflected on the team's recent surge punctuated by another strong performance on Saturday.

"It's been a team effort," Cooke told ROOT Sports after the game. "It's just a feeling of confidence. We're just a confident group in there."

Sidney Crosby finished with three assists in his second game back from injury. He now has four points in his second return from an extended absence this season, though he has not scored a goal yet.

Pittsburgh now travels to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers in a 12:30 p.m. faceoff on Sunday.
