Sophomore guard T.J. McConnell announced on Tuesday that he will transfer to Arizona. The other school that McConnell was seriously considering transferring to was the University of Virginia, but he settled on playing for Arizona because of its style and its coaches.
I just like the way they play and I obviously love their coaching staff. I would love to play for a guy like Sean Miller. He's one of the best coaches in the NCAA
The former Duquesne Dukes player averaged 11.4 points and 5.5 assists per game during the 2011-12 season. His best game of the season was a 28-point game against Saint Joseph's on January 4. McConnell shot 10-of-16 from the field that night, including five-of-six from three point range. After sitting out the 2012-13 seasons for the transfer, he will have two years of eligibility remaining at Arizona.

The Duquesne exodus of 2012 is underway. It was revealed last month that Danny Herrera, T.J. McConnell and Mike Talley would all transfer, leaving the Dukes behind after their 2011-2012 season. Talley is the first of the transfer troika to find a new landing spot. According to Jenn Menendez of the Post-Gazette, Talley will take his talents to Eastern Michigan.
Talley, a 5-foot-11 guard, just finished his sophomore season with the Dukes. Talley logged 640 minutes in 31 games last season. He started in three games. He finished the year with 231 points, an average of 7.5 per game. He averaged 1.2 rebounds per game this year as well.
Talley announced that he would leave Duquesne via Twitter on March 20. At last report, McConnell was linked to Arizona, and there has not been an update on Herrera's status.

Guard T.J. McConnell only made his transfer from Duquesne official on Tuesday, but the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Paul Zeise is hearing the rising junior may have already scouted out a place he'd like to land.
Tuscon is obviously a hike from Pittsburgh, but the Wildcats are coached by Sean Miller, a Chippewa native and former guard turned assistant coach a Pitt, so the connection doesn't seem so farfetched.
We've already talked about the possibility of McConnell heading to Penn State, where he'd be a pretty good fit, here at SB Nation Pittsburgh. The Nittany Lions, with four scholarships to fill by the end of the 2012 recruiting period, should be interested, but McConnell's interest is a different story. If this report is any indication, coach Pat Chambers might have to sell Happy Valley a little bit if he does, in fact, want McConnell in blue and white.

After the transfer of star guard T.J. McConnell, the status of Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart is more uncertain than ever.

The Duquesne Dukes suffered a major blow Tuesday night when Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that sophomore guard T.J. McConnell is transferring.
This came after news earlier in the day that fellow sophomore guard Mike Talley and freshman guard Danny Herrera were also leaving.
The move is a puzzling one to say the least. McConnell signed with Duquesne while he was just a sophomore in high school. He has been the heart and soul of an undersized Dukes team both years he has played and had become a fan favorite with his knack for making big plays.
McConnell did not comment on leaving, but his father told the P-G that he is very grateful for the opportunity he was given on The Bluff.
"He loves Ron Everhart and we can't say enough good things about him. This has nothing to do with coach Everhart or the Duquesne administration, or the university. It's a great school. T.J. just feels like he would like to try and play at a higher level."
McConnell will finish the spring semester at Duquesne before moving on.
