A brawl in Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers is going to end up costing a pair of coaches a little extra cash for their role in the altercation. Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette and Pittsburgh Penguins assistant Tony Granato both got slapped with fines from the NHL on Monday. As reported by Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Laviolette drew a $10,000 fine, while Granato got a $2,500 fine for arguing while their players battled it out on the ice.
The fight occurred after Penguins center Joe Vitale delivered a big hit on Flyers center Danny Briere. Vitale was not called for the hit, and said that he had not heard from the NHL since the game. You can see a video of the brawl here.

The hit that caused the brawl in yesterday's Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game may have cost Danny Briere the rest of his season. A release from the team's twitter account states that Briere is out indefinitely with an upper back contusion.
INJURY UPDATE: #Flyers Danny Briere - out indefinitely with upper back contusion. Nicklas Grossmann - out 7-10 days with lower body injury

So far, the Penguins' Joe Vitale, whose hit caused Briere's injury, has not heard from the NHL offices about a possible suspension, nor does he think that the hit was dirty. He claims he was playing his shifts as he normally does.
#Penguins Vitale said he had not heard from NHL. Said of hit on Briere, "I thought I came in [with a] clean shoulder-to-shoulder hit."

Powered by four unanswered goals, the Philadelphia Flyers were able to come into Pittsburgh and secure a 6-4 win against the Penguins.
With the score tied 2-2 going into the third, the Flyers broke the game open with three straight goals, with Wayne Simmonds picking up the game winning tally 2:35 into the final period.
After Jakub Voracek's 16th goal at 6:37 and Marc-Andre Bourdon's 3rd goal at 13:15, the Penguins were able to cut it down to 5-3 after Steve Sullivan put in his second goal of the game.
Voracek would put the game away with an empty-net goal with 1:15 to play.
The end of the game was marred by a braw following a Joe Vitale hit on Danny Briere late that led to numerous fights and a fiery exchange between Penguins assistant coach Tony Granato and Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette.
The Penguins have lost three out of their last four games and will look to build some momentum heading into the post-season Tuesday at home against the New York Rangers.

The Philadelphia Flyers relentlessness has paid off, as they have gained control of the game while tying the score at 2-2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The lone goal of the period came from ex-Penguin Max Talbot who deflected a shot past Fleury for his 19th goal of the season.
The Penguins have had chances on the power play, but have not been able to convert their opportunities as they are 0-for-4 with a man advantage. Philadelphia has had just one power play opportunity but did not score on it.
The Penguins outshot the Flyers 15-6 in the period and hold a 30-14 advantage for the game. Sergei Bobvrovsky has been stellar in net for the Flyers since his shaky start. He has 28 saves on the afternoon.

The Pittsburgh Penguins exploded out the gate, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game and hold a 2-1 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers after one period.
Pittsburgh broke the scoring open just 1:14 into the game when Steve Sullivan scored his 16th goal of the season with the help of a fine assist from Sidney Crosby.
The Penguins saw their lead grow to 2-0 when James Neal scored his 39th goal of the season shortly after. The goal would not have been possible without a great assist from Evgeni Malkin.
The Flyers would show signs of life and get back into the game when Claude Giroux was able to squeak his 28th goal of the season past Penguin goalie Marc-Andre Fleury late in the first to make it 2-1.
The Penguins have controlled most of the game, holding a 16-8 advantage in shots. The Flyers have made the most of their few opportunities, as a couple of shots have rung off the posts and are very much in this game.
