Here’s the Pirates’ lineup for the Bucs’ 4:05 p.m. matchup against the San Francisco Giants.

Ryan Vogelsong starts for the Giants. The Bucs’ offense scored three runs against Barry Zito Saturday night, a veritable offensive explosion compared to many of their meager showings so far this year. The exact order of their lineup doesn’t appear to be the issue, of course, but a glance at the bottom of Sunday’s lineup shows the problem, as there are four players in a row (Alvarez, Barmes, McKenry and the pitcher) who aren’t likely to hit much at all.

After the conclusion of the San Francisco game, the Pirates will begin a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
