Pirates Vs. Giants Final Score: Bucs End Losing Streak With 4-1 Victory

The Pirates scored more than three runs for only the second time all season in a 4-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants Sunday afternoon.

Kevin Correia pitched six effective innings for the Pirates, striking out two and walking one while giving up the Giants’ lone run on a groundout in the fifth.

Garrett Jones hit a solo homer for the Pirates in the second, and the Bucs also got an RBI infield single by Alex Presley later in the inning.

The Pirates got two more in the eighth. Andrew McCutchen and Casey McGehee singled, and then McCutchen came home when Neil Walker laid down a sacrifice bunt and Pablo Sandoval blew the throw to first. McGehee scored when Josh Harrison laid down a bunt of his own.

Jason Grilli allowed a triple to Angel Pagan to lead off the bottom of the eighth but ended up stranding him, and Joel Hanrahan allowed two baserunners in the ninth before leaving both of them aboard.

The Pirates leave San Francisco with a 3-6 record on the year. Their next series is against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
