Penn State has called for a 3 pm news conference on Monday with women's head coach Coquese Washington, but why?

The Penn State athletic department has called a press conference for 3 pm with athletic director Dave Joyner and women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington, but nobody really knows why. Nate Mink of StateCollege.com speculates that there are really only two reasons to call such a press conference; signing the head coach to a new contract extension or announcing that they have decided to part ways. The fact that the options are so far apart lends to the intrigue of the whole event. Even the father of a current player is in the dark.

"We don’t know anything," Al Lucas (father of junior guard Maggie Lucas) said. "It hasn’t happened yet. We can speculate on it. We’ll wait till that press conference to see what happens."

We'll have more on this press conference as soon as we know what exactly it is being organized to announce. For more on this story and all things related to the Penn State Nittany Lions, please head over Black Shoe Diaries.
