NFL Draft Results 2012: West Virginia's Bruce Irvin Goes To Seahawks At No. 15

Former West Virginia Mountaineer Bruce Irvin shot up draft boards in recent weeks, and that all came to fruition on Thursday night when the pass rusher was selected with the 15th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock thought Irvin was the one of the best past rushers in the draft, but Irvin going so high was a shock to many. Via Mocking the Draft:

We have our first big shocker in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Seattle Seahawks' choice of West Virginia Bruce Irvin is a head scratcher. He would have likely been available in the second or even third round of the draft. To take him here is bizarre. It's true Irvin has talent, but he's a project player.

This is a boom or bust player. Why not take a player like Melvin Ingram or Courtney Upshaw instead? This is bizarre and will be a shock if it pans out well for the Seahawks.

Despite the critical comments of the pick, it's a great night for Irvin and Mountaineer fans
