Trying to leave for the ACC a year early, the University of Pittsburgh is suing the Big East Conference.
Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Brett McMurphy of CBS Sports, the University of Pittsburgh is going to sue the Big East Conference over the date in which the school will be allowed to leave for the ACC.
Pitt was scheduled to leave on July 1, 2014, but according to McMurphy, Pitt is trying to leave a year early.
In a statement released by the school, Pitt claims that the Big East had been ignoring the school's call for negotiating an early exit. This left filing a lawsuit as the only option remaining.
West Virginia took a similar course of action in order to join the Big 12 for the 2012 season, as the school reached a hefty settlement with the Big East. Many are expecting Pitt to do the same.
