French Open Results: Nadal, Sharpova Continue Domination, Wozniacki Falls On Day 7

The 2012 French Open is now a week old, and though there have been a few surprises (goodbye Serena) plenty of familiar names are taking care of their competition. Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova, the No. 2 seeds on the men's and women's draws, respectively, both looked dominant in straight-set third round victories Saturday. Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki was less lucky, however, falling in three sets to No. 23 Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.

Nadal broke Argentina's Eduardo Schwank five times in a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4, victory, while successfully defending all four of Schwank's break point opportunities. Nadal was also deadly efficient while serving, scoring on 87 percent of his eligible first serves. He advances to face another Argentinian, No. 13 Juan Monaco, in the fourth round.

Sharapova has yet to drop a set at this year's Open, and has lost just five total games through three rounds so far. On Saturday, she defeated China's Shuai Peng 6-2, 6-1, to advance, losing two games in a single set for the first time this tournament. Sharapova had 27 winners to eight for opponent, and four aces to none. Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic has the tough task of slowing down Sharapova in the next round.

No. 9 Wozniacki became the latest upset victim on the women's draw, losing 6-1, 6-7 (10), 6-3. Kanepi played fearlesly, committing 41 unforced errors, but also firing 46 winners. She converted on seven of her 14 break point attempts, compared to 4-of-11 for Wozniacki. Kanepi faces Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands in the next round.
