After rampant offseason rumors, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally worked out a deal with the Hurricanes, trading center Jordan Staal to Carolina where he'll play with his brother Eric. The Pens haul included Carolina center Brandon Sutter, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 Draft, and defenseman Brian Dumoulin.

After Staal reportedly turned down a massive 10-year proposed contract, General Manager Ray Shero worked out the Draft night deal and got a significant package in return. Sutter will immediately step in play center on the third line while Dumoulin is a big defenseman who just signed his entry-level deal in April after winning a national championship with the Boston College Eagles.

As Shero took the podium to make the No. 8 selection, he thanked Staal for "six great years" in Pittsburgh, which included a Stanley Cup run in 2009. Amazingly, Staal was dealt on the night of his wedding. It was certainly the highlight of the first round, creating a stir in the crowd at Consol Energy Center.
