French Open Results: Roger Federer And Novak Djokovic Come Back To Win In Five-Set Thrillers

The men's quarterfinals on Tuesday at Roland Garros were nothing short of thrilling. Both winners of the matches had their backs squarely against the walls as they were one set away from losing and having their tournament stay ended.

After No. 1 Novak Djokovic took the first set from No. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, his opponent won the next two sets, 7-5, 7-5. In the fourth set, Tsonga was able to take Djokovic to a tiebreaker. Djokovic managed to survive the fourth set, winning 7-6 (8-6). After that set, Djokovic left nothing to chance and dominated the fifth set, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals.

In the other quarterfinal match, No. 3 Roger Federer had a steeper hill to climb after losing the first two sets to No. 9 Juan Martin del Potro, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). After losing the tiebreaker in the second round, Federer came alive and dominated the final three sets, losing only five games total in that span, 6-2, 6-0, 6-3 to set up a semifinal match against Djokovic.

The women's side of the French Open didn't have as much drama unfold. No. 4 Samantha Stosur won her quarterfinal match in straight sets against No. 15 Dominika Cibulkova, 6-4, 6-1. In the other quarterfinal match, No. 21 Sara Errani upset No. 10 Angelique Kerber in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Stosur and Errani will match up against each other in the semifinals.
