French Open Results: Maria Sharapova To Meet Sara Errani In Women's Finals

Stay connected for news and updates

Not long after No. 21 Sarah Errani of Italy punched her first ever ticket to the French Open finals after defeating No. 6 Samantha Stosur of Australia, No. 2 Maria Sharapova earned her first ever trip to the French Open finals, defeating No. 4 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3.

Prior to this tournament, Errani had not advanced past the second round of the French Open singles tournament. Her best performance in a grand slam tournament prior to this tournament was the quarterfinals of this past year's Australian Open. By comparison, Sharapova's best performance in the French Open was a pair of semi final appearances in 2007 and 2011. Her last grand slam title was the 2008 Australian Open.

The finals are scheduled for a live broadcast at 9 a.m. on NBC Saturday morning.
