London Olympics 2012: LeBron James Poised To Start At Power Forward For Team USA

Be expecting to see all sorts of hybrid lineups when Team USA pursues a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London. Team USA doesn't have a lot of size, with Tyson Chandler being the only true center and LeBron James poised to start at power forward throughout the tournament. This, as unconventional as it seems, does give the Americans quite the advantage with LeBron at that position.

But SB Nation's lead NBA writer Tom Ziller explains the potential significance of No. 1 NBA Draft pick Anthony Davis in the Olympic games:

Because of Griffin's injury, other than Davis, Kevin Love (who can soak big minutes if he rebounds against international competition like he does in the NBA) is the team's only other true big man. Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant are options at power forward in small line-ups, but neither should be playing center except against the smallest of teams (and certainly not against Spain or Brazil). Chandler is known to get dinged up. Because of all of that, there's a real chance that Davis gets a real chance in London.
