The US Women's soccer team struggled out of the gate against France in the first game of their Olympic competition in London, but four consecutive goals later, the US won, beginning their journey to their third straight Olympic gold medal.
After allowing goals in the 12th and 14th minutes by Thiney Gaetane and Delie Marie-Laure, team USA tied the game up before halftime thanks to goals by Abby Wambach (19th) and Alex Morgan (32nd). Carli Lloyd scored the game tying goal in the 52nd minute and Morgan added the dagger in the 66th minute to close the scoring out.
Team USA got more shots on goal than France, holding the advantage six shots to three shots. Other than that the stats were relatively even, with Team USA holding a slight advantage over France in possession, 53%-47%. Team USA's next game will be against Columbia on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. EDT.
