After an extremely successful career at Penn State and a successful career so far internationally, Christa Harmotto will finally make her Olympics debut in London.
Following a productive career at Penn State University, indoor volleyball player Christa Harmotto joined the USA National Team in 2009, just one year after the Beijing Olympics. In her debut with the team, Harmotto recorded a team-high 18 points en route to a 3-1 victory over Egypt.
Now in her fourth year representing the United States in international play, Harmotto will finally get the chance to make her debut in the Olympics where the Americans are certainly one of the favorites to earn medals.
Harmotto, 25, has plenty of accomplishments during her career at the middle blocker position. She entered Penn State after winning the Gatorade Player of the Year Award for the state of Pennsylvania in high school and quickly made an impact setting a team record for blocks in a game during her freshman year.
Her career hitting percentage of .433 at Penn State is the second highest mark in NCAA history and the highest in the history of the Nittany Lions. Now she'll try to translate that success into success at the 2012 London Olympics.
