Mike Aresco To Be Announced As Big East Commissioner On Wednesday

The Big East Conference officially announced Tuesday that Mike Aresco has been unanimously elected the conference's new commissioner by the league's university presidents. Aresco will replace Joseph Bailey, who has been acting as the conference's interim commissioner since John Marinatto's resignation in May.

Aresco will be introduced as the Big East's new commissioner in a press conference at the New York Athletic Club on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prior to his appointment, Aresco served as the executive vice president of programming at CBS and was responsible for all college programming at the network. In addition, he negotiated the contracts for the NCAA men's national basketball championship, regular-season basketball games and football bowl games. Most notably, he played a role in the negotiation that led to CBS Sports and Turner Sports acquiring the exclusive broadcast rights to the NCAA men's basketball tournament through 2024. That deal is reportedly worth $11 billion.
