Mike Wallace Likely To Soon Return To Steelers, Emmanuel Sanders Says

Stay connected for news and updates

Steelers star wide receiver Mike Wallace's holdout continues, but his teammates are increasingly speculating that he'll soon return, fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders says.

"There’s a little buzz around the team that he’ll be coming back pretty soon," fellow WR Emmanuel Sanders said. "I don’t know the exact date, but it’s looking pretty good."

The idea is that Wallace might appear when the Steelers begin practicing in Pittsburgh, rather than at training camp.

"There’s light at the end of the tunnel … for the end of training camp and for Mike coming back," Sanders said. "The puzzle is starting to come together."

The 2012 season is fast approaching, and no one seems to see Wallace's holdout stretching into the regular season.

The Steelers can probably be successful without Wallace, but it would obviously be nice to have him -- his speed helps the Steelers' offense open up holes, and he's capable of making big plays. For him to come back, though, he'll have to sign his $2.7 million tender, since the Steelers have a policy of not negotiating long-term deals with players who are holding out.
