Mike Adams Returns To 1st Team For Steelers After Knee Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie left tackle Mike Adams returned to the first team offense on Thursday. Adams suffered a right knee injury (mild MCL sprain) in his debut in the Steelers' preseason game against Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 9.

Before Adams left the game, he allowed 2.5 sacks on starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in nine plays. Adams was a second-round pick for the Steelers out of Ohio State in the 2012 NFL Draft. The team is expecting Adams to take over the starting left tackle spot as a rookie but he is currently No. 2 on the depth chart behind Marcus Gilbert, who was moved from right tackle.

Adams will also be pushed at the tackle spot by veteran Max Starks, who was removed from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday. Starks isn't expected to participate in the preseason game against the Colts on Sunday.
