Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte was sent to the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain.

The murky picture that was the Pittsburgh Pirates roster was made a bit clearer shortly before Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals, when Pittsburgh announced that injured outfielder Starling Marte was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain.

To replace Marte, the Pirates called up Jose Tabata from Triple-A. The move delayed the announcement of the Pirates lineup until about 50 minutes before the game.

Marte was hitting .253 with 4 HR and 10 RBI in 23 games since making his MLB debut against the Houston Astros July 26.

The injury gives Jose Tabata a good opportunity to rebound from what was a horrid start to the 2012 season where he was hitting just .232 with 3 HR and 11 RBI in 72 games before being demoted July 1.
