The second-to-last preseason roster cuts in the NFL have been made, as every team has trimmed down its roster to 75 players. And though, the Pittsburgh Steelers don't need to make their final round of cuts until Aug. 31, the SB Nation blog Behind the Steel Curtain freshened up its predictions for the 53-man roster on Tuesday.
Overall, the blog believes the offense will keep 24 players, the defensive 26 and the special teams two. The biggest battle shaping out on offense is the fullback position, which they predict will be given to David Paulson.
My reasoning for keeping Paulson over Johnson ties into our TE situation, so I'll expound on it more below.
Gilreath seems to have the inside track for our fifth receiver spot, but this battle will be decided on Thursday on the field against the Panthers.
On the defensive side of the ball, the biggest questions marks are in the linebacking corps ...
You know who actually ended up directly benefiting from this two-QB experiment?
... And secondary.
And we do need an extra safety in Week 1.
