Jets Vs. Steelers: James Harrison Says He'll Be Ready

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison believes he will play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets (4:25 p.m. on CBS). At least, that's what the All-Pro linebacker told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Thursday.

The prediction from Harrison comes a few days after he worked out the knee and head coach Mike Tomlin said there was a chance the four-time Pro Bolwer could play. The 6'0, 242-pound linebacker did not practice on Tuesday or Wednesday, as he's still recovering from minor knee surgery that he received before the beginning of the regular season. Harrison did not play in the Steelers' season-opening contest at the Denver Broncos, who defeated Pittsburgh 31-19.

Harrison's comments to Bouchette are a bit of a surprise, as seven days ago the 34-year-old wrote two handwritten notes saying he wasn't going to talk to the media until Fridays.

Steelers Vs. Jets, Wednesday Injury Report: Troy Polamalu Misses Second Straight Practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers injury report has been released, and for the second straight day Wednesday safety Troy Polamalu (calf) did not participate in practice as the Steelers continued preparation for Sunday's contest against the visiting New York Jets (4:25 p.m. ET on CBS). Despite Polamalu's absence Pittsburgh is still expecting him to play.

Other notables not participating in practice were linebackers James Harrison (knee) and Stevenson Sylvester (knee) and running back Jonathan Dwyer (foot). Dwyers' presence is a bit of a surprise as head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention his health in Tuesday's press conference.

Limited in practice was defensive end Ziggy Hood (back), while running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) was a full participant in practice. The case was the same for guard Ramon Foster (eye) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (knee).

Meanwhile, notable players that did not practice for the Jets were cornerback Darrelle Revis and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. Revis was out with a concussion, but according to reports he was cleared for Thursday's practice, though, he needs to avoid any contact. Kerley woke up with a bad back.
