Jets Vs. Steelers: Troy Polamalu Misses Practice, Unlikely To Play

Stay connected for news and updates

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was unable to participate in practice on Friday due to a strained calf muscle and is unlikely to play on Sunday against the New York Jets. This is the third consecutive practice he missed this week.

If Polamalu is unable to play, Ryan Mundy is expected to start in his place. Head coach Mike Tomlin stated on Tuesday that Polamalu was going to be limited in practice this week but was optimistic that the 31-year-old safety was going to be able to start against the Jets. While his status has yet to be officially determined, it doesn't appear to be promising.

Polamalu recorded five tackles in the Steelers' 31-19 loss to the Denver Broncos in the season opener.
