Jets Vs. Steelers: James Harrison Reluctant To Risk Further Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison stated on Friday that he has no desire to rush back to action because he doesn't want to further damage his knee. Harrison did not participate in practice on Friday and has missed several practices in a row.

Despite stating on Thursday that he was going to play, most reporters suggest that he will not be dressing for the Steelers' home opener against the New York Jets on Sunday. According to Harrison on Friday, it's too early in the season to be rushing back anyway.

Via Ray Fittipaldo's Twitter stream:

"What it comes down to is there is no need to try and rush back and end up doing more damage. It's too early in the season to do more damage and prevent myself from being out there healthy."

Harrison is still recovering from minor knee surgery from this past offseason.
