Mike Wallace Has A Few Hours Left To Sign Extension With Steelers

Wide receiver Mike Wallace has only hours left to sign an extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Entering his fourth year in the league, Wallace held out for most of the preseason in hopes of getting a long term deal. Although he returned to the team and is set to play on Sunday, that long term deal was never reached.

The Steelers typically do not talk about player contracts during the regular season, which means that Wallace would have to agree to a deal before the team leaves for Denver this afternoon.

Last season, safety Troy Polamalu signed a contract extension in the airport. Perhaps Wallace is planning on doing the same thing.

The Steelers were reportedly offering $10 million per year, but Wallace wanted at least $11 million, according to CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora. He is currently set to make $2.742 million this season.

Whether or not the two sides agree on a deal, Wallace will play in Sunday night's opener against the Broncos.
