Michigan State Vs. Penn State: Spartans Win Share Of Big Ten Title

Michigan State won 28-22 against Penn State Saturday afternoon in a game that the Spartans controlled through three quarters, although the Nittany Lions did manage to stage a comeback attempt at the end. Thanks to a touchdown run by Edwin Baker and an eight-yard TD pass from Kirk Cousins to B.J. Cunningham, the Spartans led 14-3 at halftime, and they extended their lead when Cousins and Cunningham connected again in the third quarter. The final score ended up being close because Penn State scored three times in the fourth quarter on two touchdown passes by Matt McGloin and a ten-yard run by Evan Royster. McGloin racked up 312 yards in the loss.

The Spartans picked up a share of the Big Ten title with the win. Ohio State whipped Michigan 37-7 on Saturday, and Wisconsin has a huge lead on Northwestern at this writing, so it appears all three teams will finish with the same records. The BCS standings will break the tie, and Michigan State currently trails OSU and Wisconsin.

Penn State finishes its regular season 7-5 and still appears likely to head to the Gator Bowl.
