Wow, after the Penn State defense forces a punt by Indiana from deep in Hoosier territory, the Nittany Lions' Chaz Powell lets the ball bounce off of him on the return, and Indiana recovers the muff. Sloppy, sloppy stuff right there.
On Indiana's drive following the muff, the Penn State defense forces a three-and-out, so the turnover proves not to be that costly. The Lions lose a lot of field position, though. They'll take over deep in their own territory rather than around midfield, where the ball bounced off Powell on the punt.
Matthew McGloin is in at quarterback for Penn State.
Curtis Dukes just ripped off a 29-yard run to get the Lions out from the shadows of their own goalposts. He hasn't seen much action so far this season, but with Brandon Beachum injured and Stephfon Green suspended, he's going to see more time as Silas Redd's primary backup.
There's the end of the first quarter. Penn State faces a 3rd-and-4 when the two teams return.McGloin misses Derek Moye on a short pass, though, and the Lions are forced to punt. Still 3-0 Indiana here early in the second quarter.
