Penn State vs. Purdue: Trio Of Nittany Lions Expected To Return

In the same press release that Penn State Athletics confirmed wide receiver Derek Moye has broken his foot and is expected to miss the next two games, the school announced it expects cornerbacks D'Anton Lynn and Stephon Morris as well as running back Brandon Beachum to be available this Saturday for the Nittany Lions' Homecoming game against Purdue at Beaver Stadium.

Lynn has suffered from concussion-like symptoms since a hit against Eastern Michigan that required him to be carted off the the field. Beachum sprained his ankle before the Eastern Michigan game and has not played since. Head coach Joe Paterno did not expect the two would be ready for this week at his weekly press conference on Tuesday, but it appears their statuses have change in the meantime.

Morris' return has been expected as Paterno said Tuesday the corner has been practicing with the team this week. Morris was injured in the Indiana game and missed last week's win against Iowa.

This news means Penn State should be at full strength in the secondary and at running back. It'll be interesting to see where Beachum fits in the mix now after a few nice games from one-time fourth stringer Curtis Dukes, who has stepped up in the absence of both Beachum and Stephfon Green to run for 190 yards on 27 carries, enough for a 7.0 yard per carry average.
