Robert Marve has taken over for Purdue at quarterback following the Penn State punt. He replaces Caleb TerBush, who was 5-11 for 90 yards in his first stint of the afternoon.
Marve gets an 18-yard completion on third down to open the drive, and Ralph Bolden follows that up with a 39-yard run into Penn State territory. Akeem Shavers plows ahead for an 8-yard run to get the Boilermakers into the red zone, and Devon Still comes up huge on third down for the Nittany Lions, hitting Shavers in the backfield for a loss.
Carson Wiggs comes on for his third field goal attempt already, and drills the 32-yard kick to make the score 7-6 Penn State with 4:36 to play in the half.
Purdue scoring summary: 8 plays, 67 yards, 3:54 time of possession.
The Penn State defense is getting stops deep in its own territory when it needs them, but man, Purdue is busting a lot of big plays on this defense. Not even Alabama ripped gains of 30 yards plus like the Boilermakers are today.
