Stay connected for news and updates

As we prepare for the Illinois vs. Penn State matchup to begin here in a few minutes as I type this Saturday afternoon, here are a look at scores from the early games in the Big Ten conference.

No. 14 Nebraska knocked off No. 11 Michigan State, 24-3. Rex Burkhead had 130 yards rushing and two touchdowns, plus a receiving touchdown. Meanwhile, Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins had just 86 yards passing on 27 attempts. The game leaves Penn State as the only team that is still undefeated in Big Ten play.

No. 18 Michigan beat Purdue, 36-14. Fitzgerald Toussaint had 170 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Northwestern, meanwhile, beat Indiana in a shootout, 59-38. Dan Persa went 16-for-20 with 261 yards and three touchdowns for Northwestern, while Stephen Houston and Tre Roberson combined for 272 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Hoosiers. Indiana is currently 1-8, and 0-5 in Big Ten play.
