Illinois Vs. Penn State Score: Penn State Holds Illinois To Negative Yardage

Stay connected for news and updates

There wasn't much of any offense in the first quarter between the Ilinois Fighting Illini and the Nittany Lions. The Penn State defense force Illinois to punt on their first five possessions and actually held them to negative 5 yards of offense. Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase had negative 8 yards passing the ball, as both of his completions were tackled behind the line of scrimmage.

Penn State running back Brandon Beachum got a carry, his first since the Temple game. Penn State's offense didn't fair all that much better than Illinois, but they were able to pick up a few first downs. Quarterback Matthew McGloin got the start, throwing for 33 yards 12 attempts, but he's also without his best receiving target in Derek Moye today in the snow. It looks like this is going to be a rough game, dominated by defense.
